In about two years we plan on heading out there. Neither of us are married or have any children and just want to be able to up and leave. Not really sure of a location though... any ideas? Or is there not a good place to open a bar...

At this point, getting financing isn't an issue because we already have an investor.. we are just trying to determine a really good spot.

Since you asked about the USVI, I would definitely recommend going to St. Johns. It's very ritzy and people from St. Thomas actually take a ferry to go to St. J to spend the day. Many expensive villas and hotels are in this island. If you do go to St. Thomas, you definitely need to be in the "hub" Charlotte Amalie where all touristy shops are. You will get the most clients that way.

USVI ? Wow, what a place to go and live, just hope that you have a lot of money as Real Estate is not at all cheap there. Good planning required for that Bar, good luck!

Well it would be a great place to open a bar but unless you are rich, it probably won't work. Property is extremley expensive there. I've been there on vacation heard about how expensive it is to buy land.

One word... Belize. You can still get property fairly cheap. It's easier to get citizenship. Easier to get loans, financing etc. Is it the USV? No, but it is an amazing place where you could actually make a go of your bar.

if its just going to be a standalone bar, try setting it up on the beach just outside of the big touristy areas. as more resorts are put in, yours will become more centralized and will gradually become busier and busier.
