We are all in this together, we are all Americans who want the best for our country, so why do we, the citizens, fight and argue between us? Why do republicans defend Bush as if he their father and why do liberal/democrats insist on blaming all the countries woes on Bush?

If we want to make a difference the in-fighting has to stop and we need to find common ground.

Why is common ground so hard to find if we all want the best protection and services our country can offer?

To quote Carlos Mencia, "We are just bored and we love drama."

You are right there should be more dialog, and personally I prefer an intelligent discussion over name games and bashing. However it is not below me to be vocal about blatantly hateful comments and arguments that are based only on slander and personal hatreds.

I have no problem defending my position from personal attacks. I would prefer debate over confrontation, but there are many on both sides that would rather attack than discuss.

The screamers and whiners are people who want attention, they want to distract from the truth, they drag the rest of of in with them when the attacks become personal. so what happens is a melee of pointless personal attacks and the overall message is lost.

the only other problem is how do you determine the middle ground? some people lean left some right, and they will always want even the slightest of advantages.

Maybe someday we can get to reasonable discussion, but for now we just have to try and ignore the screamers as best as possible.

This country is a two-party system for a reason. What you describe as fighting and arguing is actually debating. We blame Bush because he's supposed to be the leader of our country. Leadership doesn't involve allowing soldiers to continue to die rather than admitting one's own mistakes.

Both sides have fundamentally different beliefs. It isn't as simple as "okay, let's just agree with each other" because of major issues like immigration, gun control and abortion.
