A. Aside from the fact that all life needs water to survive, the oceans provide a buffer on the Earth's climate. The temperature is not as extreme around large bodies of water as it is in deserts.
B. Water is a polar covalent molecule, which means that the bonds between the hydrogen atoms and the oxygen molecule share electrons but the oxygen atoms has a greater share of the electrons, giving it a negative pole while giving the hydrogens a positive pole. This makes water and excellent solvent for ionic substances such as salt, but a poor solvent for non-ionic substances such as oil. Water has a high Specific Heat, meaning it takes a lot of energy to raise its temperature. This is due to hydrogen bonding between various water molecules.
C. Water moves slowly in soils and permeable rock formations (collectively called aquifers). Water moves somewhat faster (depending on the gradient) on the surface of the Earth. Ocean currents move water from equatorial regions to polar regions and back, along with moving cold waters into deep oceans which forces other waters back toward the surface. Water also evaporates and enters the atmosphere, where it is felt as humidity or seen as clouds.

There is probably a lot more to say on this subject but this should get you started.
