Soccer is taking over the rest of North America now. Like Wayne Gretzky moving to the US,Becks is the agent provocateur to drum up interest in a sport in a new market. It's all about the money, folks. Now having said that, at the grassroots level in Canada, children are starting preferring to play soccer over hockey. And their parents are pleased-they have less money to shell out on equipment. Europe will always be the seat of soccer-no need to re-invent the wheel. And the best players from US & Canada will go there to play. I hope in Canada the Brazillian style of the game is taught over the English way. And we can definitely do without the hooliganism component...

I am in the UK, so maybe this question was not directed this way, anyhow, you are welcome to David Beckham and his anorexic wife. I have never understood the hype about any ball game no matter on which side of the Atlantic it originates, 22 grown men, running around a field, getting hot and sweaty, being drama queens at the least touch from their opponents to my mind is not sport, it is theater. So I for one will be pleased if you can keep Mr Beckham indefinitely, if there are any others from his drama class that you want just say, I am sure we can find a good rate to ship these overpaid, under worked, Prima Donnas, to you

Beckham's pass la would temorarily pass soccer up the ladder. soccer and Baseball will consistently proceed to be because of the fact the suitable activities of interest interior the u . s . a .. individuals are very dependable to their abode stronger activities and an entire developemnt in those activities has been created on the highschool, college and expert stages. no longer something will replace. college and severe college soccer will consistently outperform soccer. That leaves the NFL to be the soccer interest of determination.

No. MLS does not have any teams where I live, or in any of the other cities I support. And considering that Beckham is already halfway down the back side of his career, I could care less. The best and the brightest are still in Europe, so I'm still following them.

He is definitely NOT Pele. He will create buzz with his hot wife off the field but, won't do anything spectacular on the field to get myself along with others to goto the games and become a fan. Soccer is the 5th popular sport in the U.S. after Football, Baseball, Basketball and Hockey without him and it will remain that way with him.

No--I've always enjoyed soccer / futbol, but although Beckham is good, I think there's a bit too much hype about him.
I try to catch MLS games on TV when I can (we don't have a team nearby), and LOVE it when it's World Cup time!!
Viva Italia!! :)
Oh, and USA, too ;)
Peace.

No.
Honestly, the U.S. doesn't care all that much about soccer (football). Personally, I enjoy playing the game but I've never been much of a fan to watch professionals play on TV.

It can only help to generate interest in soccer in the U.S. by bringing in such a huge name to our MLS. He is the most recognizable name in soccer.
