We will be flying into Pensacola and taking a convertible east on 98 until we get to Mexico Beach, Florida which is just past Panama City, FL. We were looking for some local haunts and places of curiousity to fill up a days drive. Its only three hours and we'd like to stop a couple times along the road. Anyone have any places to reccomend? Thanks in advance!

An intresting spot alon 98 is "garden of Eden part."'This is when the movie Frogs was filmed.
If you check out "thebeachloversbeach.com" you can find some good info on dining in the Panama City Beach area.
Also in Panama City Beach the Riplys Museum is open.
But the drive from Pensacola to Mexico Beach is a nice one and has some nice scenery.

It's more like a four hour drive on 98. You'll miss many of the best scenic drives because only after you get past Panama City will you drive along the beach.

If you can add another 45 minutes to your drive, take Highway 30-A in Walton County, it turns South from 98 and later rejoins it over 20 miles later. However, it goes through several distinct ecosystems and passes geological features unique to the U.S. and only found in some African countries outside the U.S: coastal dune lakes. It also goes along the beach. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. However, If you just stay on Highway 98 in Walton County, all you will see is pine trees.
