I've got this really nice black and gold chinese dress that i'd like to wear out.....But the slits go a little higher than I am comfortable with. What should I wear under it, or what can I do to make it a little more hip? (is there a way I could make it more casual?)

There are a few things you can do. One, wear a thin black skirt with the same length hemline underneath the dress. Two, sew a gold piece of material the length of the slit. Be sure the gold matches your dress that way it will look good. And Three, Sew the split so that is reaches a little lower on your thigh.

Yes, Don't use Fancy jewerly and wear a cutepar of ballet flats that match ur wonderful dress and do not even think about wearing black leggings.

for casual, wear them with leggings, a tight plain black top underneath and flats. For formal, wear a black slip underneath so you won't have to show more than necessary. Wear black high heals and have your hair in a top knot. Very hot

these dresses are made to make you look stunning and sexy. if you don't want people to look at your legs than do something nice with your hair and make-up so they look at that. I have also a chinese dress, I wear them with nice high heels so I look tall and slim and put my hair up (slick like a ballet-dancer) the hair can make it look classy and not to sexy.
