I am 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Yesterday I went into my doctors appointment and we talked about how I was 1 cm dialated, and not effaced at all last Thursday. Then he checked my cervix and I am still 1 cm dialated, but I am now 75% effaced. He said that if nothing changes by next Monday then we will talk about inducing me because she was 6lbs 11oz at 36 weeks and she has been measuring big since March. He said he is amazed that I haven't went into labor or had her already. Is it normal to become 75% to 100% effaced and not be dialated beyond 1 cm? I am just curious. This is my first pregnancy, and I am very excited to see her. If this has happened to someone before, can you please tell me a way to help bring on some contractions**without castor oil**!

i was completely effaced and not dilated at all on my due date. i had my daughter 3 days after her due date so the anticipation and anxiety was unbearable. Things that seemed to help me were to walk! i walked up and down my house all day and all night.

the night that i had her, i started having some very sporadic braxton hicks so i got out of bed and started walking around and the contractions started being timely set apart and started feeling more like really really bad menstrual pains but in my back as well. i had her about 10 hours after they started feeling like real labor pains. watch for really abnormal back pain cause some people's contractions are in their back instead of their uterus.

a lot of friends told me to try love making cause it releases a certain hormone which can set off labor as well.

good luck!

you need to be 100% effaced to be able to really dilate at all as far as i know. Most women will be 1-2 cm dialated for weeks before actual labour starts. Nothing is going to start labour other than your own body when she is 100% ready to come out. The only thing that I think may have done it for me with preg no.2 was sex. There is a hormone in sperm which is also present in the 'gel' they sometimes use to induce labour. My MW told me to have sex then put a big pillow under your bum to (and I quote) "bathe your cervix in semen" LOL, as this is similar to how the gel works. It softens your cervis in order for the body to start labour.

Good luck and have fun making you husband get a work out!!
Try it, i do think it helps.

I know how anxious you can get towards the end! I'm not sure about the effacing bit, but to give things a hurry along you could try either having a bath with clary sage essential oil or rubbing a clary sage blend into your tummy. Clary Sage brings on contractions (which is why it's not recommended during pregnancy but since you WANT the contractions now it's perfectly safe). I used it with my son, and that night the contractions started, he was born healthy and wonderful.

Sweetie, I have suffering on my butt and hips and scale down again, plus my legs harm and I have strain. I under no circumstances idea it was once feasible to have pains to your butt however it sounds as if it's! It is typical, that is my third being pregnant, one child died and my daughter is 6 and I am now 32 weeks pregnant. Every being pregnant is wholly extraordinary, I under no circumstances had pains like that with my daughter, or even much less with the primary. Brace your self since the extra some distance alongside you're, the extra uncomfortable you are going to be. Keep you toes accelerated whilst feasible and take a look at to not stand or sit down for lengthy intervals of time. Do stroll, it's healthful however do not late it.

I dont no much about the first part of your question but if you want to bring on the labour have sex, sperm is a natural inducer, a hot bath, raspberry leaf tea, walk around on all fours. Good luck

_Please_ do some research.

Doctors can only make _guesses_ at fetal weight. There's no guarantee that she's that weight.

As for measuring big, see http://www.gynob.com/fh.htm

As for all the internal exams, see http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/interventions/a/vaginalexam.htm
http://www.lvmidwife.com/page10.html

In my opinion, the only abnormal thing going on here is all the interventionist junk. Your doctor should be keeping his hands out of you, and not blithering about induction unless you're way overdue. Induction carries its own set of risks.

There're articles on inductions, inductions for big babies, due dates, &c here:

Get on your hands and knee's and wash your floor or act like you are washing the floor. It works!!! Just half and hour, like 2 or 3 times a day.
