I live in a rural area of NY State. It's beautiful farm country. Last night though we were awakened by a horrible noise. The dogs were out the back door like a shot. Took us a few seconds to throw clothes on & get the guns & flashlights. Such excitement in the neighborhood. Everyone's dogs were out and guns were everywhere. We think it may have been a bobcat hunting for easy farm prey, but those people in the co-op have great guard dogs so the cat was probably circumventing those farms and crossed on to our lands (we have the fruits & veggies grown on our 2 farms -- so no bobcat food. Our Rotties probably chased the cat off. Never a dull moment!

Life has changed - you can imagine in last fifty years from a city of 2 million to a metro of 15 million people. Now 2.5 million autos are on the roads and so and so forth...hustle and bustle.. life goes on...

Nice - I live by the sea, with a nice nudist beach 20 minutes from where I live, countryside 20 minutes in the other direction, plenty to see and do.

A reasonably small suburban city, Peaceful enough, Rarely trouble, really, of course they're are certain groups of the local youthes, but they don't really pose much threat to us.
