Why are 12 year olds having sex???

Question

There is a disturbing amount 12 year olds on this site who are pregnant. Babies should not be having babies, it's just wrong. Just think if every generation did that, you might know your greatgreatgreatgreatgreat-grandmother!
I'm just posting this to see if there are some people left in the world who are not sex mad maniacs.

Sex feels good. It's supposed to. That's what hormones are for. Otherwise the human race would die out. 12 year olds who have sex are rarely "sex mad maniacs." Kids are maturing younger than ever before and sometimes they just let their hormones (and sometimes their emotions) override their judgment. It's unfair to condemn them or to judge them. In other parts of the world, and in a different age, they would be married by now, and having sex and babies would be expected of them.

I know, this site is filled with panicky questions from young girls who became pregnant or think they are and who explain in detail exactly what they did to get that way, and it seems like they should all be learning from each other's mistakes, but these aren't all the same girls, it's a steady stream of girls who have never visited this site before, and they are only a small fraction of the 12 year old girls in the world, most of whom AREN'T pregnant or concerned that they might be.

It IS NOT the parents fault like so many are saying. I had great parents. To tell you the truth, I really don't know why I did. It was a guy I'd had a crush on for as long as I could remember. He was 16, I was 13. After that, I never saw him again (imagine that!). I can't say I regret it, though. It didn't change me as a person. I didn't loose my "innocence." Now I'm 21, married, in college, working full time, and have 0 kids. He was 19 and I was 20 when we wed. In the south (well, where I come from anyway) If you get married when your a teen it's because your pregnant... not us.
ANYWAY! (Got a little off subject didn't I?) Your right 12 year olds should not be having children, but you cannot stop them from having sex. No one can. From experience, if they really want to do something, they will, regardless of who tells them it's wrong. Same reason teens drink I guess... I don't know that for a fact, though. Proud to say I'm 21 and still haven't drank a drop.

I'm not advocating 12 year olds having babies or sex, but I do think that age isn't necessarily the deciding factor in when to have sex. I think maturity of the individual is much more important. I know 13 year olds who look and act like 18 year olds and 18 year olds who look and act like 13 year olds. Which one will be more emotionally ready to have sex? I've always been kind of immature, so for me to start having sex at 12 would have been like a child having sex but for whatever reason some people mature faster than others.

There has to be a general guideline drawn and I really disagree with all the pressure young people are under to have sex. But I don't necessarily think it's a wrong thing per se. In the past people used to get married and start families at 14 - the famous example is Romeo and Juliet who were both meant to be 14.

Having said that, I do think there are much better things that a teenager could be doing with their time than spending it looking after a screeching kid. But I disagree with the blanket condemation that a lot of young people get. Teanagers aren't all immoral and stupid - they're just inexperienced adults.

Well i;m not 12 anymore, I'm still a teenager actually but when i was 12 i never even comtemplated having sex and now it seems that a sect ot 12 yr olds are having sex and becomg pregnant. Besides becoming pregnant and not being able to care for a child prepely at 12, there's also the risk of contrating numerous STI's , I just think that young people like myself need to be more viglilanf=t and cuatious in their actions.

I'm 13 and every day I read about 12 and 13 year olds getting pregnant. It is wrong. I don't really think about sex, much less have it with some 25 year old convict (someone did that on this site.) The whole situation is sad. Sad for the 12 year old's parents, for her, and for the poor baby who shouldn't have been here in the first place.

it is very disturbing. i am 29 years old and saw this when i was in school we had a girl in my grade and one in third grade both pregnant. did they learn . nope they both had a heard of kids the third grader had 11 be fore she did five years ago the fifth grader had four and died shortly after 2 of her kids. she and all her kids but the oldest one had aids

i think the biggest blame for loose children is the parents. the reason being is that if the parents would pay these kids some attention then these kids wouldnt be acting out. the parents are soo consumed with their own lives that they have no idea what their kids are like or doing . plus they allow these girls to wear very short clothes and very tight clothes i see it every time i leave my home an it makes me sick. these little girls are allowed in malls and movie theaters and other places dressed like little hookers

theses little girls seek attention so they dress like hookers and go out and guys notice so for 20 minutes they feel love and affection something they arent getting at home

thats nasty in alot of ways...my one questions in where in the hell were their parents letting 12 year olds alone w/ a boy long enough for that to even happen...eww wow at 12 i was to scared to even talk to a boy let along hold hand or have sex!
how do 12 year olds even come up w/ that idea i didn't know what sex was til i was about 14 or even how to go about doin it
wow thats werid when their kid is 12 the mom won't even be old enough for discounts on insurance...or when the mom is 18 and graduating high school if she graduates that is the kid will be starting school thats wrong very wrong

it's crazy what these kids are doing now. my husband and i talked about this he said that things are going back to like they use to be back in the old days where people didn't live past 30 or 40 so they married at 12 or younger. He said there is a state that is going to allow 16 yr old to have sex legally. WTF!. The only thing that is happening is parents are not talking to there kids about the risks that come with having sex or oral sex.. They give there kids way too much freedom letting them dress like hookers and have cell phones prepaid or not at 8,10 and 13 yrs old.

Anyways, I think that it is lack of education, television, peer pressure, etc. There are a whole bunch of reasons why, but I think that it's horrible that young girls these days are having babies let alone having sex!

I am keeping my virginity until I am married. See? There are still some sane teenage girls!

the world has gone disperable 12 yr olds have sex cuz they sleep at the boys house vice versa and deciede to get a gf cuz its cool but this is wrong they dont do it just cuz they horney but they think its cool thats y the guy dumps his girl for another or cheats/manwhores on her . this cool thing was brought in by forgiens and its wrong. guns arnt cool ,sex isnt cool just thrillingley disgusting and its a big cost and 12 yr olds i think you dont have that kind of money.....
