I dare'nt watch candyman...it was about when i was about 10 and every1 used 2 say it in mirror which made me so scared and I didnt watch it incase candyman got me through the film instaedof the miror(yeah crazy I know but i still wouldnt watch it)
Stephen Kings ROSE REDis really scary-and good as its about 3 hours long...it really messes wiv ur head.
about people that stay in this haunted house that noone can say how many rooms there is it seems to grow and as it does it kills ppl 1by1.
Or WOLF CREEK-its gory and weird.Stranded backpackers in remote Australia fall prey to a murderous bushman who offers to fix their car, then takes them captive
REST STOP is good and also mind boggling-a girl from Texas runs away to LA with her boyf . They drive through a shortcut in an old road, and when they park in a rest stop, The boyf is abducted by the sadistic driver of an old yellow truck. Along the night, the girl is threatened by the sick maniac, while mysterious things happen to her in the place.
I wouldnt watch any of these on my own though Im a scaredy cat!!even if I watch them through the day then go out im constantly looking behind me(and many a time have done this and ended up tripping up coz Ive not been watching where Im going!!duh!!)

I don't find films like Candyman, Scream or of that sort scary cause its obvious when your watching the film that they aren't true and isn't realistic. I have watched those films and haven't found any of them scary.
The scariest film for me is something which has an underlying scary / psychopathic element and not so blunt - blood is easy to laugh off but when you sense something might happen or someone is there but you see nothing, thats scarier. I find the older Hitchcock films scarier than modern day ones, cause there is that underlying and unseen danger; or something Japanese where they don't have to reveal every little thing such as they do for most American Horror remakes.

Candyman is pretty scary, i watched it years ago and still wouldn't look in a mirror and say candyman 5 times. also The blair witch project it was creepy and just left you with a disturbing and unsettled feeling after watching it.

For me it is the exorcist, i cant watch it on my own. Classic 70's horror and the fact it is based upon a true story makes it even scarier. So scary that epople were running out of the cinema being sick and it was banned when it first came out. The girl in it just creeps me out.

Wedding videos should get a mention here. I have seen some absolute shockers. They are a gendre all of their own. Appart from that, try Sam Neil in "In The Mind of Madness".

I think American werewolf in London is really scary, i know its a black comedy, but the transformation effects are incredible..no cgi there..
in terms of fear, i think that the exorcist is pretty high up there, i know its cliche, but its good, and in terms of suspense, it has to be Alien..
