The motive for American involvement in Vietnam was to halt the spread of Communism. Sounds logical. I don't see any logic in the wars the US started in Iraq (I can somehow understand the motive for the beginning of the first-1991-Gulf War) and Yugoslavia. And yes, Hitler attacked Yugoslavia too.

JFK had no designs or serious plan to stage a war in Vietnam, he sent advisers to Vietnam, and, in fact, asked McNamera to develop a plan of withdrawing the 15,000 or so men in Vietnam in '63 by 1968, then, was assassinated. It was LBJ that entered Vietnam with a war with American troops.

Clinton was fully aware of the threat that terrorism provided and worked hard to mitigate the danger.

Joe Kennedy was ambassador to England, and, as such, in the 30's, worked diplomacy, and, supported American troops fighting in Europe after Pearl Harbor.

Eisenhower got us involved in Vietnam. Your second point makes no sense. Democrats started the conflict and then they started the anti-conflict movement? Our foreign policies in the middle-east over the past five decades is what got people like Bin Laden pissed about America, not Clinton, and I doubt anyone in American wants to surrender to anyone. Most of America sees Iraq for what it is and just wants out already, just like Vietnam.
