It will be easier to show you than to try to explain. Go to the site, 'Superman through the ages'. Follow the link to the story, the K-Metal from Krypton. Read it through, especially the part where Superman loses his powers (for the very first time!) and makes a tremendous decision to keep on fighting to save lives, stop crime and help people.
That's what it takes, to be a hero.

Recently, a champion of the people snuck a digital camera into a Japanese theater and recorded man's first ever sneak peek at the new Neon Genesis Evangelion movie. The official trailer was released days later --but he continues to be my hero.
