Because unlike other companies, first it is a public 'service', second every time you turn around, someone is investigating them to make sure they are spending the money they get correctly.

Not only do they do TV, they also do Radio, Websites, Movies and alot of other things. And everytime they do something, a commission gets together to verify that the money is spent wisely.

If anything, the UK Gov probably spends more money investigating the BBC, than the BBC gets to spend on their programming.

At the moment theres a guy sueing the BBC over the controversial 9-11 documentry it aired. Hes sueing on the grounds of misleading the public. Want full story its on prison planet .com but it shows they have been caught red handed manipulating the media. I have long suspected all news and newspapers now are censored and subject to glorifying dumbing down of the populace. Dont beleive what you read has never been more true than now!

If you are from the US, we are FAR worse in every category as far as monopolies! They don't enforce the laws anymore and allow them to do anything they want. That is why Free Enterprise is a figment of most peoples imagination!
