Bush quote
"There's a lot of discussion about a scenario in which our troop posture would be to guard the territorial integrity of - of the country of Iraq, to embed and train, to help the Iraqi security forces deal with violent elements in their society, as well as keep enough Special Forces there to chase down al-Qaeda. As a matter of fact, that is something that I've spoken publicly about, so that's - that's the position I would like to see us in."
quote 2
The Democrats will say they forced him to do so, and will find new ways to keep the mess in Iraq front and center in the national debate - without necessarily pushing to bring all the troops home right away. If you're looking for someone who will lead a speedy withdrawal from Iraq, you'll have to go to the extreme left or right of the parties. Nobody in the mainstream is looking to get out soon.
Pure granstanding!.

I have no idea why Reid thinks it's such a big deal to stay up all night in the Senate. Don't those party animals do that regularly?
More seriously, if the proposed legislation is that all-fired important, it can stand a wait and see interval in which Senators and Americans can give the bill a good once-over. Instead, Dems want to sneak yet another bill through.
Won't work in the age of blogs.

No matter what happens, the Dems will find a reason to bash Bush. If the surge proves fruitful which it looks like it will, the Dems will cry but there is no political change. When there is Political agreement and change they will cry "But the foreign insurgent suicide bombers are still targeting our troops!" This is War and no matter who is in power it will continue until the whole of Iraq is patrolled by Iraqi police, troops, and special forces governed by a united three way( Shia, Sunni, and Kurd) government. Until that happens we simply cannot and will not leave. Otherwise Iran will push through Iraq be welcomed by the Syrian government and pummel the democracy of Lebanon and march right up to the Israeli border. All under the "protection" of a nuclear umbrella. All this is, is politics. Whom can make the other side look more incompetent. Hence the low poll ratings of Congress. It's way past due that we roll up our sleeves and get the job done. The cherished propaganda tactics the Dem's have prescribed to since the Vietnam war have dragged their once great Democratic party down. It is no longer what is best for America it is ALL about power grabbing and what is best for the DNC. Shame on them.

+Your add on Comment to Tech is very apropos. Good job!

+DIZZ.....According to your thumbs down I would say the opposite is true. WAKE UP. Americans want to leave yes, but we want it done with a swift victory....hence the lower approval ratings for Congress than Bush.

The Democrats came into power promising big changes in direction to get us out of Iraq; but the reality is that they had no new ideas. They are simply doing what Bush has been doing from the start.---However, they continue to shake the bushes(pardon the pun) to make it seem like they are doing something besides playing Poker in the conference room.
They may even be cooperating with the Republicans to put pressure on the Iraqi government to get it's act together.
Meanwhile, they want to continue with the existing scheme of things, because it will help them in the 2008 election if the Republicans still seem to be "stuck in a quagmire".
It all works out very well for us because, as a result of all this bickering in Congress, the insurgents are laying low waiting for us to leave. This lull in the fighting gives the Iraqis a chance to build up it's army and police forces, and it gives us a chance to regain control in troublesome areas.

Reid and company will take a handfull of UPPERS and talk and talk and talk and take more pills and talk some more.
They'll lead Sen.Byrd to the podium and he's good for 6-7 hours of mindless rambling.
Won't say anything meaningfull, but boy he can talk.
Don't expect much out of Ted Kennedy, after a few shots ,he can't find the podium.

Seems like the Democrats are afraid the September report will be positive, and they are desperate to lose the war before Bush can win it.
Yes, that's a serious charge. Yes, I have my suspicions that it's true.

This is something that I've known all along. Most of them are simply pandering for votes and for the most part are using this as an election issue. The majority want to stay there (both sides), but can't afford to be honest with the voters.
No surprises.
