I prefer the old fashion way that is long term courtship.You will know more about the person.This is possible. There are still a lot of liberal minded individuals out there with conservative behaviors.

I've been dating my b/f for 2 and a half years, and you find that most people want to know what their partner intends for the future, it's not fair to keep someone hanging on waiting and waiting unless they are also happy with it and aware of what the end result will be.

i think it's possible. my son has been with a woman for 4 yrs. he just bought her a ring in january.
my husband has a friend who has been seeing a woman for 7 or 8 yrs.
his uncle has been with a woman for 40 yrs. they live together but are not married.
