It stands for the dreaded "C word".
This word, and all words that start with a letter (any letter), should be banned from the English language.
Does that sound foolish to you? I believe it is no more foolish than banning the "N word", the "B word", the "F word" and the list goes on.
Ban the words, then burn the books. Soon we will all be as illiterate as those who text.

Usually it's presented like this (C) and then it stands for "copyright", as in the material or information you are taking part of is copyright protected.
