One of the most visited attractions in the city is the unfinished masterpiece by Gaudi named the

Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia or (Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family) this building still unfinished since Gaudi died and probably never will be at this stage as no one will foot the bill, but is still an amazing sight even with all the cranes and scaffolding, it's simply breathtaking and well worth seeing. Museu Picasso (Picasso Museum)

The Picasso Museum is a must see attraction and is visited by several million visitors each year which is housed in two 15th-century palaces a fitting location indeed.

The permanent collection is quite extencive and is devoted to the Picasso's early works, including many early sketchesa as well as a selection of painting covering several of his different periods like his Blue Period (1901–1904) and Pink (1907–1920). La Rambla

The area know as La Rambla comprises a series of pedestrianised little lane or streets and covers quite a large area and is one of the most visited area in all Barcleona and world famousd for it's beauty, lined with trees, cafés, mine artists, street preformers with their weird and wacky shows as well as many restaurants is the perfect place in which to still for a drink and people watch or stroll along the entire lenght for a real unique Barcelona experiecnce.

also around this area you will find several places of interest and well wotrh a look including Gaudí’s first major architectural project, Palau Güell (Güell Palace). also in this area you will come across one of the most attractive squares in the city as well as many palm trees, Gaudi designed lampposts as well as many terrace cafes.

Güell Park / Parc Güell

Another Gaudí masterpiece. Here he created a mini disneyland well before Disney has the idea.

The park located on a hill to the north gives amazing views over the entire city below.

Well worth a visit.

Casa Milá

Another Gaudi piece The Casa Milá, Actually an apartment block but there is now a musuem on the roof decidated to Gaudi. Another must see.

Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter)

The maze of little streets known as the Barri Gòtic or Gothic Quarter offering a collection of buildings dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries as well as several sites with Roman ruins,

The remains of the Roman city of Barcino located underneath the palace which was discovered back in 1931 and is open to the public.

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya – MNAC (National Museum of Catalonian Art)

Housing the National Museum of Catalonian Art, step inside for an amazing view of a collection of Gothic, and medieval treasures as well as a large collection of religious artefacts.

The view of the building at night is also very nice as it's flood lit after dark and makes for a lovely night photo.

Fundació Joan Miró (Joan Miró Foundation)

Mançana de la Discòrdia (Block of Discord)

A set of simply extraordinary houses all designed by different artictecticts including Gaudí of course but with a little help from his "friends" . Well worth a visit.

Along the Waterfront

What better way to view the city that from the waters edge, a stroll along the harbourside is an ideal way for one to see some of the results of Barcelona’s regeneration programme including many new cafes, bars, even a shopping mall and if you have kids with you and want to entertain them for a while there is a leisure centre as well as a large aquarium.

Barceloneta.

This was the original fishermens quarter of the city which dates back to 1750's and is a real nice area to visit and if you like beaches and seafood this is the place for you as not only is it the nearest beach to the centre and has 5 kilometers of them it also offers the finest fish restaurants in the city

The Vila Olímpica at Poble Nou, built for the Olympic Games it is now a real lively spot especially at weekends and during the summer months, During winter it's like a ghost town.

From the Colom at the end of the Ramblas you can actually walk to the beach from here in about fifteen minutes or alternatively hop on the metro.

Be warned Barceloneta beach gets mighty busy on any hot day and during the summer months (June to Sep) it's busy every day if fear not there is another called Icaria Beach which is the next closest to Barceloneta.
