A monkey fist maybe?

There is a stone or something small & heavy inside of the knot and it is used to add weight to the end of a throw line.

I think you might be referring to a knot, or one nautical mile per hour, which is the common speed used in describing ships' speed.
As against a kilometer per hour, or a statute (land) mile per hour, as used on land.
1 nautical mile = 6080 feet
1 statute mile = 5280 feet
1 kilometre = 1000 metres ( = 3281 feet)

Therefore 1 knot = 1.1515 miles per hour
1 knot = 1.914 kilometers per hour
