80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Many, upon asking themselves, answer this most important of questions with an inspirational statement or two that has applied to their own good and bad experiences in life. While many of these sayings like "be happy", "try your hardest", "never be discouraged" and so forth are ways to help make life more meaningful, they will still leave the question of life nagging indefinitely. As many words as one can say will never bring closure to the question, for the answer is not a logical conclusion that one can share with others.
The "answer" to the meaning of life can only be found within oneself, appearing through the experience of realizing the connection of the core of what makes your being with that of the universe. If you truly want to reach this understanding, you must be willing to disregard all that has come between the pure essence of your existence and the person you have become to function in the world. The door to this journey has been left closed by many more than have opened it, for the idea of making changes and seeing the world in new ways is frightening for those who have made themselves comfortable in their place. When these people are asked your question they will give you a quick and unsatisfying answer.
Try to isolate the feeling that led you to ask your question in the first place and discover where it came from. Only you can find your own way to the one answer.

The answer depends upon what you mean by "meaning of life".
If you mean just getting some good feeling, then that is a personal thing and no one can answer for you. Getting good feelings revolves around doing something that boosts our self ego/self-esteem. You do a good deed and then imagine people praising you then tell yourself that you are a good person.
But if you mean "real meaning of life", then that presupposes living for a "real purpose in life". Real purpose can only come from a Creator, i.e. God.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (noted philosopher, mathematician and atheist)
So to find the answer to your question, seek meaningless good feelings or seek God.

To find meaning in something as we search for self and God and through self and God do we find happiness in the meaning we serve for him. It is to experience life both good and bad, right and wrong, so that we may better our selves not only as a person but to better humanity as we seek to better our self. God wants everyone to live to be happy but there are those that he has put on Earth to suffer for the sake of humanity to have us learn to help each other not hurt each other which, through suffering do we learn to unite from the care we learn to have for each other as being a body of one called humanity.
