I would first go back and witness significant events in history that changed the world. Then go to the future to gain knowledge to return and use that knowledge in preparation for the future.

I'd only want a "short" time machine. Something I can charge for a few days and go back to the past of forward to the future. For example, charge it for 3 days. I'll go back in 3 days. It would be useful for going back and correcting small mistakes. Going forward in time, I wouldn't go more than a day. Even that is bound to mess up something. I'd only use it on days that seem meaningless. I have a lot of those days! But I'd rather have something that takes me back. Think of it as preparation for things that I can't see happening but are bound to happen in the future.
This time machine is efficient and easy to use, and far less likely to change the fabric of time than a "traditional" time machine.

Cop out answer - I want to do both - travel to the past first to say I'm sorry to several people and then off to the future to see what is going on after my time!

Absolutely not as the machine will take long time to passage of 'present' to enter past or future. Every second is converted to past and there is the future second which has already come. Therefore not to board on such machine is wiseness.

Well the future will make me older the past younger..so i guess i will sell the time machine and make money out of it..j/kidding
If i have no choice but to use it..i guess the past cos i'm familiar with it and i can expect certain things and i may be able to change some of it..hopefully for the better so my future will be better..

Wow, good question my freind. If I travel back into the past, I would be able to predict the future, and possibly become famous & rich. If I travel into the future, there may be a world full of disaster. So I would like to go back to the past where disease and cancer weren't the norm.

The future, because current physics has determined that a time machine couldn't exist before it was invented and therefore could not go into the past.

Past. Seeing the future is not the best thing to do because when you come back from the future and reach that point....you know what is going to happen. So that just ruins those little surprises in life.

The past so I could take part in all the important event such as the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Womens right to Vote, End of Slavery, End of segregation of schools for Mexicans and African Americans. Just to take part of the culture and be a part of the things that changed our America.

I want to go back to the past. I have 3 times in my life that i really wish that i can change:
1. The day that i refused to go to boarding school when i was 13. If i went, maybe i am a better person now.
2. The day when i said to a guy who confess that he loves me,"I am going to wait until 21years old to fall in love". I declined him, I am so regret because until now, I am 28 but still never fall in love with anyone. He is happily married with 2 kids now. I was 15.
3. The day that i suggested to open a business to my parents. The business now is really not going well. I am the one who responsible to it.
Yes, i want to go to the past. To mend at least one of the event.
