Hey,

Although DDR1 and DDR2 are both SD Ram chips...there is a minor difference in their physical structure...So be careful when inserting the said chips on your motherboard, if its not goin in easily - DONT FORCE IT IN!!!, plus - any motherboard will be either DDR1 or DDR2 compatible - NOT BOTH..

The only thing not addressed yet in this questions is:

Are you trying to put DDR ram in SD ram slots? Meaning that the motherboard truly takes the old type of ram which is SDram? If that is the case you should know right away because the old SDram has two notches, 3 sections in the ram which is quite different than the DDR ram. And no DDR ram will not fit in those slots.

DDR1 and DDR2 are totally different thing.
1st Check your Motherboard(MOBO) manual reference to what kinda ram speed can your motherboard handle. And most of the thing are in MOBO manual, and you'll know it when you have a look in there either DDR(184-pins) or DDR2(240-pins).

Absolutely not. DDR2 have same socket look as DDR1, but have a different "key" to make sure they do NOT fit.
