Hi I am female and yes if I got pregnant by accident I woundn't be happy about a man been given the decision to terminate my baby, BUT, how come women are given the option when men aren't? you could argue that the man should have used protection but so should the women and at least she gets the chance to put that mistake right with abortion, a man doesnt get that chance, and then may have to fork out child maintenance until the baby is 18. I know so many women who have one night stands on purpose to get pregnant they have the baby then send the CSA after the unsuspecting guy, I also know a lot of men who feel like ending it all as they cannot afforard to live due to paying this.
On the other hand I also know a lot of men who have begged their girlfriends to keep the baby while she has gone ahead and terminated.
Surely this is not fair, I think the farther should be allowed to sign something.
What do you think should men be given a voice in this decision (it is half their child).

I think your right the Man should have some say in this, women can be very caniving and if they want a baby they will get one any way they can, and yes if they are low enough they will send the CSA after the father.
I think if the man says he does not want this child he should be free from maintenance as it was not his decision to keep the baby, then if he wants to see the baby and support it that is his choice.

my opinnion is if the woman is raped and pregnancy occures then the man should have no right to say what happens but if it consensual sex then the man should have sum say in the decision like a meeting of the man and woman to discuse the options as it is half of the mens child too but on the other hand the man doesnt have to carry the baby for 9 months or give birth to it or go throught what the woman does emotionally or physically or financially as it i shard to get some men to pay for their child, so alough men should have a chance to voice their opinion and try and show/prove to the woman that the best thing is to keep or get rid of the child the finally decision will have to be and always will be down to the woman as it her that is primarly affected by having a baby be it either a good or bad way, well hopd that answers your qustion.

On one hand I don't think a man or woman should have the right to abortion unless there are EXTREME circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. On the other hand I think there should be some kind of papers or something a would be father should be able to sign giving up rights and everything involved with the child instead of killing it. I can't explain myself very good in words but it is a broad subject with many, many, high and low points but I think the man should have some say in it. I too, know women that have done what you have said.

I guess the reason that women are given the choice & men are not is that the baby is growing in her body & not his. But it takes 2 people to make a baby not 1.
But scientists agree that life begins at conception. It is not just a blob of tissues and some cells in his body. It is a human being that we all allow to be murdered through our lack of love and support.
Every day is a holocaust.
Men should share the responsibility & the right to 'decide' - in the best possible way.

Was pregnant twice myself....first time had miscarriage and second abortion but both times it was the men who were putting pressure on me to get rid of it...first time i made decision, second i went along with his...so I dont really agree that men dont have a say..Not every girl gonna file for maintanance..I would ask the father's opinion..if he is able to support child and you re up for it...but sometimes its still better to get contraception...and only if it fails abortion should be an option. Children should be wanted not accidental.

It used to be that if a woman wanted an abortion, her husband had to sign to say he agreed with it also.
Nowadays, i suppose they could say anyone was the father and getthem to sign, even if they werent so it wouldnt be a foolproof idea.
At the end of the day, its the womans body and most likely the woman who would be saddled with an unwanted child if she did not abort.
Its half the fathers child but the woman carries it so it should be her final decision.

Legally the woman has the rights because it's growing inside her but if you are in a loving relationship and both of you are level headed individuals you can discuss it fairly and equally see which each the mother AND father wants. Personally I wouldn't end a precious human life before it's time.

NO
they shouldnt get a say!
im pregnant with triplets and my ex would have had me abort them. i said i couldnt ever do that........... i did consider it and i feel shocking for even thinking about it... but i would never ever do that..
when i told my ex i was pregnant he said that we could work with it and it wasnt the end of the world. he did say he thinks i should have an abortion but then said that in the end it was my decision.
the girls are the one that has to carry the babies, and what makes me so mad is that men, lets face it can up and leave at any point during that childs life, a mother can too but still..... it should deffo be the womans choice!

Accident's do happen, I had two Durex condoms rip just this weekend and we went and got the morning after pill.
I think if one of the two people involved doesn't want the child it shouldn't be had unless there's special circumstances. I know many think that's evil etc. to get it aborted but I simply don't see it as murder, if it was murder it would be illegal and guess what...

1) You CANNOT get pregnant by accident, only by choice. (No-one compels you to have sex. If they do, it is rape, not accident)
2) If in a stable relationship, the man should have some say BUT
3) Ultimately only the woman has to carry the baby, therefore the final choice has to be hers (with all the guidance and support she is willing to accept)
4) Avoiding the situation where one has to choose is the best way.
