1st - Get a timer and set it for one hour. Unplug phones, shut off cell phones, and TV's.
2nd - Play the radio only or your computer playlist.
3rd - Start in your least used room and take out items from that room that belong in other rooms and place those items in the middle of that area or on a table only to be out of the way when it comes time to do that next location.

When an hour passes 3 things will have come from that moment.

1: You will have started somewhere and saw it as a project you can continue without the need for using a timer.
or
2: You will know what one hour can accomplish and know that you will have to set another hour in the near future for cleaning.
or
3: You will have finished the job.

Finally treat yourself.

I had read "Rita Emmett's The Procrastinator's Handbook: Mastering The Art Of Doing It Now" many years back and it helped me out in many ways.

Carry your supplies in a tote or bucket as you go, so you are not running back and forth for a cloth or paper towels, Windex, etc. Clean in a clockwise pattern around the room, start at the top and work your way down, for example...dust first, vacuum or wash the floor last.

Clean on a regular basis, even if things don't look dirty. I have a weekly routine I do regardless.

Use a timer! Set it for 15 minutes. Stay in only one room. See how much you can get done in just 15 minutes.

When the timer goes off, set it for another 15 minutes and go to a different room.

Don't worry about the first room not being done, you can go back to it later. Trying to beat the timer when you have a big, daunting pile/mess can be a great way to get something done fast.

Once you have your room clean, keep it clean just 15 minutes a day. Always tackle a "hot spot" before you go to bed. A "hot spot" is an area that always seems to get piled up with papers or other junk. Such as the entryway table, kitchen table or counter, couch end table, etc.

Clean those areas you use everytime with a quick once over then do other areas twice weekly, also give yourself thirty minutes to clean each of those areas and listening to music as you clean will help boost your speed and morale Good Luck !

I put music on, you will be surprised how fast you can clean a bath when you are listening to Harry Belafonte singing "there is a whole in the bucket"

Keep it clean in the first place. Showers etc squirt with cleaner each day as you get out of them. As for the rest rehome the kids and pets.
