while Ponting has more experience and with that experience he can handle himself better in tough spots, i think Kevin Pietersen will soon surpass him
but Brian Lara remains at the top!!!!!!!!!!

The answer to best batsman is different ....
But the better among Peterson and Ponting - I would pick Ponting.
He has been consistent, and has this knack of demolishing the bowling attack and giving an early advantage to his team.
Whereas Peterson have been scoring runs, but could not get his team to win.
Also, Ponting gives this consistant performace, even when he has this extra burden of captaincy.

i look at who i would fear coming to the crease. If your team is in trouble, ricky ponting is the best. If your team is kicking butt, its probably because of ricky ponting. Thats coming from a kiwi, so that is saying alot.

ponting=postioning+accurate+powerful+middle order+consistant+good fielder+good catptain
but peterson is also a accurate player, good postioner of ball,more powerful than ponting but he lags in consistency.

Ponting is better than Pieterson.Ponting has been playing consistently well for a very long time.He is much more experienced than Pieterson and has scored more runs than Pieterson.
