Should there be a minimal qualification set for entering into politics .. like a minimal educational level .. and more importantly no criminal cases pending or rejected for a person to contest the elections.

If the person entering the election is not even qualified to a minimal level of education and social awareness how can we as responsible citizens elect him to make rules to govern us.

You are perfectly right! But such a law will never pass; and it takes a people's revolution just to cosmetize things.

My personal opinion is that they should graduate a political faculty.

For being a doctor it takes some medical faculty (6 years!!!...!+ a decade of mambo jumbo ) and a doctor can kill us one at a time only - much like lawyers. So we have the time to stop bad doctors.

How about politicians?! They can kill us all at once (see any warfare) and we don't have any meen to stop them!!!...! Not to mention some other advantages they should pay with their blood (money, power and so on) - or, at least so did the war veterans payed for their miserable penssions: with their blood (lims, eyes etc.); and I wonder how are we equall... buzzword of democracy.

The bottom line is politicians should graduate a certain faculty and not just any faculty and there shoult exist a lot of means to controll politicians.

Education in India is a passport to employment. The Indian education has not taught the values-character, sacrifice, compassion, respect to elders, helping destitute. With out such values what is the use of diploma, degree or post graduations- they are mere piece of papers.

In Indian politics, in assemblies and parliament ,educated forms the majority. But did any of them behave like educated? Can any one of us differentiate between political rouges who is educated and who is not. Actually educated political rowdies do their business more skillfully and cunningly than the other.
Indian educated are drifting often from human values. When compare to an ordinary rustic citizen they fall in character and values far below. Yet they never leave their superiority complex.

Instead of demanding educational qualification for politicians , it is better to turn towards 'varsities to ask for value based education rather than the present tissue paper degrees.

Definitely. The person should at least have a bachelor degree in politics, history or administration. I also believe he/she should have a degree in project management (which includes budget management).

For example, if someone in the goverment will lead Education, then that person does not necessarly has to be a teacher. He/ she will not teach in that position, but will administrate that department and will plan for future projects.

Nice dreams! I wish all the best that your dream may come true one day in Indian political system, but till we have people like Lallo Prasad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav & people like them & attached to their political parties such dreams will remain dreams only never become reality at least in India. First clean & clear off completely the present set of politicians & then bring new faces young, energetic with minimum educational or professional qualifications for a clean political system in India. I am with you.

Yes to certain extent, but we should also keep in mind, only education cannot determine whether a man is good or bad. It depends upon the individual.

Also we cannt say all educated are having social awareness.

no need. let the electorate decide who qualify and who doesn't. Chances are if someone don't have those minimal qualifications they won't be electable anyway.

Ya, and that should be matriculation. If the education system is good, then by that time a person does get fairly 'educated' and 'cultured'.

Sounds good, but then you would have the liberals up in arms again over fairness, profiling, racism, hatred, bigotry, and alot of other unfounded claims, simply for having a requirement.
