For years about the last 10 years now,lol
when ever I’m angry or upset about whatever, instead if expressing these feelings I’ve been suppressing them
One reason is the embarrassment of being out in a public place (not wanting to draw attention to myself)
And it’s the same when I’m angry people know when your angry hey, maybe it’s the negative energy or something.

Anyway the other day I was at work and there was a song on the radio
As I was listening to it I started to get really emotional, so much that I felt like crying not because of the song but because it reminded me of something I went through in the past
Usually when I’m in this state I start praying hoping that what ever is causing it will go and it usually does, but that afternoon when I got home I tried thinking about it to cry it out but it was gone.

How many of you out there have gone through this?
What do you do to stop yourself from suppressing these feelings?
I guess nobody wants to be seen out in public crying especially if you’re a guy
But like how do you express it when your not in public…what can you do to stop yourself from suppressing these feelings…is it best to just cry or yell it out or what?

(Does anyone get me)
Anyway all answers appreciated

Thanx…seeya

They say it's not good to suppress your feeling and if you don't vent it could cause health problems. When I get really mad I take it out on the house. I start cleaning everything, even getting those places that you don't see but know the dirt is there. When I finish It makes me feel good to see all that I have accomplished and I forget my anger. Just like water rolls off a ducks back my problems roll away and are replaced by the comfort of a clean home.

I can't really say that I suppress my feelings much anymore, because I mean, I'm a girl, haha...

I wouldn't really want to be angry/upset/especially crying in public, if I could help it. But there's nothing wrong with expressing how you feel, or having emotions. especially when you're alone, at home.

It helps me to write.

Yup its a thing that happens every day for me as well, I suppress my negative feelings due to my dad being a horrid ass when i was growing up, i associate anger and fear with him so i suppress them subconciously to avoid the association with my past. but when something triggers my emotions such as a song i have a hard time controlling myself. then i know its time to go to a quiet place and cry my eyes out till im empty and start again
its a very unhealthy way to deal with it but easier than looking back at the pain.
good luck with life!

I do often suppress my feelings even though I know its not healthy because one day your going to explode and it won't be too good. I try to cry it out, your brain and heart needs it. Give some time to yourself and take care of your feelings, don't let others influence you on how you should act or feel.

Man it is never healthy to suppress your feelings. Sure you should try to control yourself so that you don't make a huge scene in public, but you gotta be fair to yourself. Men can cry, just not where your friends are able to see!

I'd never admit it!

Seriously, I've learned to be a lot more open about my feelings, but I don't always express them. Sometimes it is better to hold your tongue. There are times it is better to speak out. Part of growing is knowing when is which.
