At night clouds seem to disapear, what happens to them and why?

Clouds don't disappear at night. The sky is just dark so it's harder to see them. If you look up and see just lots of stars then there are no clouds (same as looking at a clear blue sky during the day). If you see no stars at all - clouds are up there covering them up.

If there's a thunderstorm at night, the lightening will light up the clouds.

no where

the clouds are still there.
it cannot be seen because there is no light to refract through the clouds. It becomes very obvious that there are clouds at light during a full moon as dark shades (clouds) slightly or wholely cover the moon for a few seconds. on a very cloudy night the night sky will be clear as if all the stars have vanished. The stars are still there but the clouds are too thick to allow the light of the stars to come through.

hope it helps

Nothing happens to them at all. It's just that without the sun to illuminate them, they appear dark. It just so happens that the sky, too, is dark at night. Your eye just can't tell the difference easily. They're much more easily seen over cities that have significant amounts of light pollution. Lower clouds are more well lit by city lights than are higher ones.

On a moonlit night, watch the part of the sky near the moon if there have been clouds in the sky that day. You'll probably see some passing in front of the moon, or getting close enough to it in the sky that they will be lit by it.

You can also notice stars "vanishing" and reappearing when clouds pass in front of them.

That is a local phenomenon. Here, near the ocean, it generally gets more cloudy. Your clouds are likely caused by heating and are of the cumulus variety. They dissipate as the Earth cools but are probably over somebody else. You may live near somewhere that produces them locally like near a mountain or on a peninsula.

it depends on the season and climate.

clouds dont always disappear at night, but usually when the sun goes to sleep, the evaporation process is gone, causing the cold air to sink and thus reducing the cloud masses above.

Where do clouds go at night ?

They are very much there but you can't see them because they block the moon and star light. But in a big city, you can see them because of the light from the ground.

They're there. There are just not enough light to make them visible.
