When I was in the Navy we had to keep the brass shinny. We used Brasso it used to be in a blue and white striped can. As for terra cotta roof tiles & flower pots are made from that.

Polish brass and copper items

Put the shimmer back in your brass, bronze, and copper objects by making a paste of equal parts white vinegar and salt, or vinegar and baking soda (wait for the fizzing to stop before using). Use a clean, soft cloth or paper towel to rub the paste into the item until the tarnish is gone. Then rinse with cool water and polish with a soft towel until dry.

Yes the Terra cotta if wet continually will break eventually plus it will become stained with limestone which will be difficult to remove.

Good Luck !

The best thing I have used so far, is Brasso. It out shines everything else on the market. As for the pot. I won't hurt it. The sun does more damage then anything else does. Byeeee

Lots of proprietary brass cleaners around, but salt and vinegar can be used. Dip a cloth in hot vinegar, then into salt and polish up.

Frost is worse for terracotta - rain isn't too bad. Freezing temperatures tends to crack it.
