i love the alien movies! i know i'm a dork...has anyone heard whether or not sigourney weaver is going to be in the new one, because it will be so awesome if she is!!

I heard a tale that someone posted on a Sci-Fi forum, that Mary Elizabeth Winstead of Grindhouse and Die Hard 4, is being considered for a "reimagining" (remake) of the original, and will play Ripley.
There is no evidence of this as of yet though. (If it is true, I hope it's on tv- like Sci-Fi channel, so I don't have to think/see/or hear about it.
(Not that I have anything against the actress, she didn't DO anything in it, but she was IN Grindhouse!)
At this point I'd be happy to see Tony Scott (and Bruckheimer) do A-5. Let himcast Denzel as his lead, and finish what his brother started (in his second greatest film). Bring a half a million of the suckers straight to Earth and end this thing in a massive epic, almost war movie fashion. Starship Troopers meets Saving Private Ryan style, only get Ripley in there *that means Sigourney! * (No Sigourney should = NO RIPLEY)
Hell, let that megalomaniac Cameron do it, now that someone pulled his inflated head up from the Ocean depths. He can't screw up anything, apparently.
(but he's working on some "secret project so "new" it'd be 2025 before it got released).

The next Alien flick will be the sequel to AVP
I don't think Sigourney weaver would do another one.

I hope so! AVP wasn't the same without her. I don't really think of it as part of it really. I've seen several interviews with Sigourney Weaver and in each she claims she'd love to do another.
In any event, will those out there who keep insisting that
Ripley died in the 4th movie please stop! I own the Quadrilogy and it contains both the theatrical release and the director's cut and she didn't die in either version!

First off for the one guy that said she died on 4 that is completely wrong because Ripley was alive at the end. Number 2 it doesn't look like there are going to be any other movie Alien movies except AVP2, so I doubt the character of Ripley is coming back.

She's suppose to be. That would definitely rock. The alien vs. predator movie was a disappointment to me. It's not the same without her in there somewhere.

It would be hard for her to return.
She died in the hot lead on the prison planet, but they brought back a clone in the next one and she died there too.
No plauisble way to do it again.
