I have personally been MUCH happier with nVidia when it comes to dual monitor, but ATI typically performs better on some games.

I believe nVidia made a 7950GT AGP card, which might be the best AGP they made.

ATI makes an AGP version of their Sapphire X1950 that looks very good.

To be true, Nvidia DX10 cards are not designed for AGP. But on the other hand the ATI still have graphics that uses AGP with DX10 support, but only a certain companies make those cards, try google for X2600 or X2400 series for AGP cards instead of PCI.
If you want to play latest games with rich resolutions I suggest getting a PCI-E, because everyone is going to move to PCI-E 2.0 soon. PCI got better advantage over AGP because of the bandwidth in AGP slot which is slow, the faster the graphics with efficient port, your graphics will look awesome.
