No it is not true... maybe jumping or extremely long cross country rides... would not be Wise.

Plenty of myths and "old wives' tales" try to explain the cause of miscarriage. But, they are fiction-not fact. None of the following activities causes miscarriage:

Riding a horse or a bicycle
Carrying groceries
Lifting a small child
Wearing high heels
Working outside the home
Being a vegetarian
Eating spicy foods
Having sex
Having a Pap smear
Coloring your hair
Vacuuming
Wishing away or denying a pregnancy

I have heard that Roman women used horse iding as a method to provoke miscarriage, like an abortion. Of course, only while you are pregnant, horse riding in general doesn't mean you will have a miscarriage when you get pregnant. I don't know if it is true or not, but bouncing up and down a lot can be dangerous for the baby. Of course some babies stay there and are very stable, but others need softer movemnets.

I believe the concern many doctors having with riding horses while pregnant is what could occur if you fell off the horse.
