I'm not sure people think about it that way. I usually try to say something like you two instead of you guys if there are a man and woman involved. If there are a bunch of them (guys and gals) I try to say all these folks or people. I do forget sometimes though. It is a commonly used phrase so I doubt if people will be able to change unless you do a national campaign to try to stop it. That could be really expensive, are you rich! If so can I be your best friend!!LOL

It's just like when people in general are called men and captains call their boats girls. It's just a part of our society, there's really no reason to get mad about it.
