I constantly see offers for stuff on television or on products and it says void in Alaska and Hawaii. It seems as if these states being unattached to the 48 are getting the raw end of the deal. What do you think?

Yes, I absolutelly do. I live in North Pole Alaska and Internet shopping is one of the important ways up here to get things that you just can't get in the Fairbanks area because there are no stores that sell it. I DO understand that shipping is more costly an am perfectly willing to pay for extra shipping if I really want something but I hate the fact that many sellers (internet stores, ebay etc) won't even consider shipping to Alaska even though it would not be anymore work on their part (USPS, FedEX, DHL, UPS all ship to Alaska, so it is just a matter of printing a shipping label).

One more thing that I really do not like either is that many sellers list they ship to the CONTINENTAL US, even though they do not ship to Alaska, so I never quite know if someone will ship to Ak or not without tracking down a customer service rep.
For everyone out there: Continental US means 48 state + ALASKA (we are part of the continent)!!!
CONTIGUOUS states means only the 48 states!!

Perhaps, but why should the "lower 48" subsidize you guys because you live so far away, making it more costly to ship products there?
If we live out in the country, or in a small town, we have to pay higher prices and can not avail all those offers...

The Federal Government owns 15 times the amount of land as the average State. Perhaps that would be the best place to start. Besides, we are the United States- not the 50 United States and one monstrous Federal entity.
