has been married for 14 years to a woman who will not have sex. She is "afraid" or something. He has tried to show compassion, understanding, patience, love, has tried to get counseling. She says that she "will change", that she will work on the issue, but never has. The marriage has never been consummated. I know it seems crazy that he has waited this long, but he really believes in marriage and has tried to "live without it". He wants kids and now, just does not love her anymore. He's done. Can he get an annulment? Should he just file for a divorce? Will he have to pay alimony?

Can he get an annulment -- I am not sure -- 14 years is a long time to wait for an annulment.

Should he file for divorce? That is a question only he can answer. If his wedding was like mine -- nothing was said about "til death or you get fed up with your wife do you part" He needs to work through the issues, preferrably with a counselor or minister who knows and understands his reasons for not ending the marriage before now.

Will he have to pay alimony? That depends on their specific situation. If he supported her and she didn't have a job -- so she wasn't building retirement and has lost some of her employability -- then he may be ordered to do so.

He might be able to get an annulment in many states since the marriage was never consummated. I would recommend he sees an attorney ASAP to see what the rules are in his state.

Poor man, he did what he thought was the Christian thing to do, but he's been more than patient and deserves better. I doubt that God is going to think badly of him for finally giving up.

Did he ever get her into counseling? She needs to go alone at first.
14 years! He should have addressed this issue many years ago...but why am I talking about what cannot be undone.

Yes, he can get an annulment. He will have to pay alimony if she fights for it..and ...only if she wins.

Hail the Gods! Hail Odin! Actually it won't be only the battleslain. Loki will lead those in Hel and they have died of old age, sickness, etc. So it's everyone that goes to battle. I base this on a six hour debate I just had the other day with another Heathen LOL

NO alimony! Divorce is not the end of the world for CHRISTian men & women! If she is not a christian, that is his first mistake; do not be unequally yoked.
