There are certain areas that are forbidden from being shown by the governments of their respected countries.

Also, google earth does not show every inch of earth, there are places (Most of them in the middle of the ocean where there is nothing to look at) that are not indexed.

**NOTE**

Area 51 USED to be classified and was not shown on google earth in the beginning, a black square / rectangle was over the entire area. It has since been shown.

They haven't updated the satellite. They update certain places every so many years. Recently, we moved into a new house (though over a year ago) in a new development and on the Google satellite it appears as farmland. We can't even get directions from MapQuest at our house because it doesn't recognize the address. They should be updating it soon, though.

Have you ever heard of Security.
There are still some very sensetive areas in our country that some government agency would rather you didn't get a look at.
Try Area 51 or Groom Lake Nevada and see what you get.
I can guarntee you won't get to see it either.

Rachel, Nevada is also blurred out. The experiments thats goes around in Rachel is so horrifying and classified that even the President doesn't know about it. They are people that are even higher than Congress that have experiments and other classified stuff going around in Rachel, thats why some places are blurred out.

I always assumed the blurred out parts were for security reasons. Like Army bases and Nuclear Plants.
