U.S. dollars, half dollars and dimes minted before 1965 are 90% silver. Anything in the 60's in mint state is pretty cheap. There are also 1 oz silver bars and rounds that you can get for a little over bullion price. Many with designs and sayings on them.
If appropriate a religious symbol on a silver chain.
Of course if your friend is a werewolf then a silver bullet might be a good thing to give him (LOL).
Have fun.

Well, a generic silver item would be a Silver dollar. Or a silver charm with a theme that means something special to your friend or you. Browse an engraving store.

Give them a silver bullet. Northwest Territorial Mint makes silver bullet bullion and has a large following online. Quite a good gift that they are sure to remember.

You could get some pretty silver spoons from an antique shop. They're very cheap, and if you're crafty, you can drill a hole on each one and make a nice windchime, or bend one into a bracelet.
