There are lots of different types of Lawyers. You can always check the Yellow Pages - but here are a few: 1) Divorce Lawyers - answer is obvious - however they can also handle Child support problems, Custody & Visitation problems. 2) Bankruptcy Lawyers 3) Real Estate Lawyers - they help clients Buying &/or Selling Properties - order title etc... 4) Personal Injury Lawyers - again ...obvious 5) Municipal Court Lawyers - For Traffic offenses/DWI etc... and so on... and so on...

Attorneys at law, and patent attorneys.
However, while all attorneys at law have the same licensure, and can theoretically practice any type of law within their jurisdiction, there are literally hundreds of specialties.
Some of the more common specialties are criminal defense, contracts and business transactions, intellectual property, probate and family law, corporate law -- but the list goes on and on and on.

they have all sorts of specialties, but i can give you some more broad ideas--
some argue in court, at both the trial and appeals level
some are judges
some do wills and trust funds
some do real estate
some teach
some do banking transactions
some are on the staff of corporations
some write contracts
and still some work in museums.
so there are lots and lots of them.
