My parents TAUGHT me many times that every decision I make has a consequence.
But I had to make a lot of decisions with mixed consequences before I LEARNED what it meant.
Unfortunately you can't be taught something if you are not ready to learn.

Sometimes you can't trust family (i.e. mom, dad) to do what is best for you, at the end of the day they are people too.
Following the rules, and playing fair isn't always the best way to go.
Watch your back because as soon as you stop, someone is waiting in the cut to "stab you". i.e. Stab u in the back

That you do need to listen to those who are wiser and older, when we are young we think, na nothing can happen to me or i'm so ready to grow up and get out of here, but then you grow up and realize that most of what your parents told you were so true,,,,,so, my parents were trying to teach me to listen to them, i just chose not to and now i've learned on my own that you should listen to your parents...lol..and try as you may it seems an impossible task to teach kids to listen and follow your advice, i know that now because i have two kids of my own.

What I had to learn on my own was not to give my heart to quickly to a man. I have to fully know and love myself before anyone else can.

That you need to listen to yourself and your own heart, over what or who people tell you 'is good for you'. One divorce under my belt because everyone said what a great guy he was, instead of listening to myself and knowing he's not a great guy for me!

That people will stab you in the back, even if they consider you a friend, never to fully trust someone.

i know i know this sounds so sappy but it would've been nice to learn that I have value and worth from others it sucks going to counseling and having your counselor tell you that. (and they also tell you to say it to yourself over and over) I have a hard time believing myself ROFL
ah well I guess I had to grow up and get over it at some point
