hon, anyone with enough time to sit around on your computer and find people to say pointless things to is the one who's probably catching flies... in your mouth thats hanging open drooling over your screen. maybe ill hire you, your stinky attitude would be great for attracting bugs!

Here's a few things:

Pit trap: Dig a small hole in the ground just large enough to bury a plastic cup, margarine tub, or similar container so the top is just slightly lower than the soil. Pour about an inch of rubbing alcohol diluted about 50% with tap water. Let the cup sit overnight and bugs will fall into the trap. You can place cups in a variety of environments to catch different insects.

Light traps: see links

Nets: Sweep nets are used to knock insects off of plants by swinging the net through grass, branches, shrubs, etc - with a motion similar to sweeping with a broom. Sweep nets are ones that look like a pillow case on the end of a stick. Butterfly nets have an open mesh. These types of nets are used to scoop insects out of the air while they are flying.

Water insects: use a strainer or colander. If you have a round colander, you can attach three strings to it to form a triangle, then tie a longer string to the triangle. You can throw the colander out into the water and then pull it back quickly toward the shore. Dump the colander into a bucket to pick out the insects.
