Anyone know anything or have experience with replacing a cracked mirror on a dresser? The mirror is a 3' x 3' custom shape, can anyone give me a ballpark figure as to how much it may be for them to take out the cracked one, cut out the shape, and install it?

Custom job carries a custom price. Price the mirror and you will know what the handyman is charging removal and replacement. Have you thought about having the glass cut and using adhesive to attach it on top of the original mirror?

Take the mirror frame to a glass store. They can cut a new mirror for it and install it back in the frame. It should not be too much money. However, if you want the mirror to be beveled, it will cost more than $1.00 per inch, plus the cost of the mirror and installation.

If you can get a tracing of the mirror, take it to several companies to get a quote. If it's real complicated, they may not have the tools or experience to help. It will be the cutting that determines the cost.

If you are concerned with keeping the antique status, the replacement also has to be antique. Same thing with refinishing; you have to use only hide glue, nothing modern. Check with local antique/salvage shops. Chances of finding a match are slim but you might find a similar set and change them all out. If you don't care about antique status, just go to a hardware store and pick out something you like.
