Alaska is the bigger state.
To put it in perspective though. You can get in your car on the western side of the state of Texas and drive 12 hours to the east at the speed limit and still be inside the state of Texas before you come to the eastern edge of Texas.
The same applies to travelling on major highways in Texas going north and south that you can drive the speed limit for 12 hours and still be inside the state of Texas.
Both states have their good points; however, I don't think that you will find such an advanced highway system in Alaska with so many places to go, so you can never get a real feel for the size of Alaska by driving its highway system.
I think Texas is big enough, but Alaska is bigger square mileage wise while the population of Texas is even significantly bigger that there is no way to compare Texas' population with that of Alaska. than the physical size of Alaska.
Regardless, physically, both Alaska ("Seward's Folly" called that by the lower 48 staters at the time for buying Alaska from Russia for a few million dollars) and Texas are very big states. With California coming in third as far as physical size.

Definitely Alaska. I am old enough to remember when Alaska became a state and Texas lost its position as the biggest state in the union.

alaska, by far. if they cut alaska in half, and each of them was a separate state, texas would be the third largest state. alaska is over twice as big as texas.
