It sounds like you need a computer tech to come to your home and do a clean up and re install some things as well.
I've never had to call one, since my SIL is one. So he will come over and fix my glitches when I have one. How do you
know you have had a virus. Usually they mess up a computer
so that you can't operate as usual.
What you can try is this, to see if you can go back to an
earlier date when everything was working fine. And then it
will lock everything in to that time, and you should be free of
glitches. Unless you really have a virus that's messing every-
thing up.
System Restore:
Go to your Start Button. Click onto Programs after the list
is on screen. Click to "Tools", Then click to Restore System.
When Restore appears, Click to Restore at an earlier time
and date. Then Click "next", after setting that time and date.
Click the most recent check point on the list, whether it's on
a calendar or regular list. Then Click: OK. Confirm Restore
Point, and click "next".
Your system should be 'restored'. Then shut down and
restart your computer as you normally do with the start
button presumably.
Try this before trying anything else. You also can contact
the Help center for your Internet Provider. And they can talk
you thru help sessions by phone.
You may need to delete all of the cookies, and temp files
and places on the internet where you've visited to give more
space to your hard drive. You can get easy instruction for
that from your ISP as well. If not, pose the question here at
YA and you'll get the instructions.

If you have a restore disk or a companion CD with your operating system and drivers on it, you can put it in your CD tray and restart the computer. It should come up with options to restore your computer to the factory defaults.
Otherwise, you can go into Control Panel and go to Add/Remove programs to uninstall anything you don't want on there anymore.
You can also go to Start-->Run and type msconfig and hit enter. A new window will pop up, click on Startup tab, and you can uncheck anything that you don't want to run on startup. I'd be a little careful with that though, there could be stuff that you don't know what it is, but it might be important. I'd only monkey with stuff that you recognize and know what it is. Such as maybe Quicktime or something like that.
