As long as she's a legal adult, she doesn't need anyone else's permission. The days of a woman being the property of a man are over. That was the reason for a man having to ask the woman's father in the first place. It is not wrong for a single woman to marry without her father's permission.

If shes over 18 she doesn't have to ask permission of her parents for anything she can do what ever she wants as shes a legal adult at that age.

Well, that depends, if the Father does not want to let his daughter go but the daughter is of the right age I think the daughter should make the choice. However, I think the daughter should feel comfortable enough with her decision to be able to ask her father. Also if she decides to get married to the right kind of person her Father is likely to accept his daughters decision. I hope this helps!

A woman can marry without parental consent when she is 18. Some states allow 15, 16, and 17 year old women to marry without parental consent as well.

No, but I think it is general courtesy and a very sweet touch if a guy goes through the process of asking the father for his daughter's hand in marriage before he proposes. Most couples won't even get that far along if the parents are entirely opposed to the relationship.

Even when a prospective husband asks a woman's father or mother for permission to marry, it's not literal permission, but rather asking for blessing and acceptance.

This is a very personal decision and is one that needs to be made by the two people being united by sacred vows. In a close family, this is a time to share your happiness. But the final decision is yours.

She's an adult it is her choice, and she doesn't need permission to get married. The old fashioned way...which I did...The guy is supposed to ask the father of the women he wants to marry for permission to ask her. She doesn't have to ask her daddy or guardian for permission.

I think that if a girly wants to get married they should be able too! Even without her Father's permission but as long as the girly is old enough! Yay! :)

My father's opinion means a lot to me but he would never prevent me from marrying the man that I loved, regardless of if he liked him or not. As long as I am happy, then he is happy.
