first scan will likely be at you first appt, anywhere from 6 weeks to 10, depending on your dr. It just to confirm pregnancy and get a better idea of the due date.

Depends on the practice. Some like to do one at the first visit just to match up size and dates. Some prefer to wait until you're further along. Some practices do routine ultrasounds on every woman and some prefer to use them as a diognostic tool or only use them if there are signs of complications. Some mothers choose to forgo ultrasound testing completely.

It all depends on when you find out that you are pregnant. If it's early on in the pregnancy, they do an 8-10 week scan to check for certain things and then again at about 20 weeks for a checkup on development and accuracy of how far along you are. ( I do imagine it depends on where you are in the world though, each doctor is different; this is Canadian)

I had my first ultrasound at the clinic at 6 weeks to verify that it was a viable pregnancy.. My 2nd one was at 9 weeks at my 1st prenatal appointment and it lasted about 30 minutes.. I had a 3rd one at 21 weeks, and found out it was a boy..

The first ultrasound scan.... generally when around 10th weeks (whereby you can see something - development). Subsequently, your doc (depend) will do the ultrasound every visit (check on the growing development).

I don't think it is a routine exam unless there is a problem... the only exception to this is when the mother voluntarily wants to be scanned to see the sex of the fetus... and this is usually not determinable any earlier than by 19 or 20 weeks.

my dr did one as soon as they got my pregnancy test back, that way they could see if it was in-utero or tubal, and to check everything out....then they will do another one at 18-20 weeks or in that general time period to check your babies development and gender (if you want to know) and to make sure he/she is measuring along with your due date. when it comes to ultrasounds alot of drs are different. But thats what my dr did.
