I almost said I like it from the back, but that sounds bad. But I like it from the back.

This debate about whether the toilet paper should hang so the paper unrolls down the front or down the back has been going on since 1882 when toilet paper was first on the roll.
I like over the top, because with under you can't always see the end of the toilet paper and you have to spin the roll to find it, whereas with over it's always easy to find. Also, you don't hit your knuckles against the wall with it over and you don't touch the wall with your dirty fingers where someone else has touched. Another reason is if you hang it over, you see the spider (or whatever) that may be resting on top of the roll and have a chance to do something about it.
The nicer hotels usually have it over the front for decorative reasons. They fold the last square available on the roll so it rests in a neat design awaiting the next user.
I agree that the exception would be if I had cats that liked to spin the roll. I guess it's all a matter of preference. I'm just happy if someone replaces the roll besides me!

It hangs from the front. If you have a pattern on the paper it would not show if you hung it from the back.

The front!!!!!!!!!!!! It's easier to grab yes, but to me most of all it doesn't touch the wall behind it. I get a little anal I guess about certain things and this happens to be one of them.

To the front.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people put the toilet paper on backwards!
