My mom and grandma got together and talked about me. They think i need counseling. I think i just have normal 13 yr. old girl issues. My dad wants me dead, my mom neglects me, nobody gets me, and my 2 best friends have the exact same issues. Do i need counseling?

well, my life is pretty much the same as ur's but, i have a lot of other issues dat ur a lot worse. my parents r divorce, my best friend just got out of juvie for somethin she didn't do and is now is foster care in another town, my dad acts like a 15 year old cause he never wants to admit dat he was an abuser and he lives in another state and my grandma never wants to admit things dat she does wrong, my brother is growin up very fast and just becomin rude and annoyin. my mom is very busy so in a way neglects me and doesn't understand how i feel and some of my friends don't understand cause they haven't been in my position. its really hard and i kno who u feel. my mom wanted me to do counseling/therapy and i have already done it twice when i was younger and hated it. i just started again last week, it went pretty well, it was nice to tell someone my feelings dat wasn't a friend or family member so they have a different and more realistic look at the problem. i have always been against it but, it has helped alittle but, i still ain't a fan. but, i think u should try it, u might actually like it. good luck!

I think everyone needs counseling to a point. It helps get issues out and taken care of so that they don't become larger issues that are worse off and start to affect the health. You might not have issues that are serious but your family believes that they are so go and tell the truth, let the counselor decided if you really need to be there.

You could probably benifit from counseling just so you would have someone to talk about things with. Doesn't sound like your family is very good for that.

It will be a perfect opportunity to tell the counselor what you told us.Then the counselor will rake THEM over the coals and they will realize no one needs counseling unless they take it to heart and realize they need to make some changes.GOD loves you though and don't you forget it hon.

Counseling won't hurt wether you need it or not. There may be issues you are not even aware of.I got counseling and it wasn't bad I might go back again.

When I was 13 my parents took me to counseling because they didn't want to deal with me. The counselor they took me to told me he was my friend so I figured out that my parents buy me friends. My parents just didn't want to deal with me and my issues it was just easier to pay someone to deal with me. Good Luck.

Think of it this way. For one hour a week you'd have a person who will listen to you vent off some steam. Heck, most of us come here to vent, you'll have a person there to listen! Sounds good to me.

And for what it's worth, we get you around here, or at least try.

Good luck!

Can't hurt, probably equip you with skills to better handle your dad's attitude and your mom's neglect. Maybe you don't need it, but you're sure to benefit from it.
