Love? I'd be highly surprised if they even respected us in the morning. The funds are earmarked for the tribal regions "to win over this lawless region from Qaeda and Taliban militants." How long will it take for that money to wind up in the hands of the terrorists, funding future terrorist attacks against us?

What's interesting about this is I seem to recall Bush saying he won't negotiate with terrorists or states that sponsor terrorism and now he's ginving them money and setting up a peace conference.

We're not looking for love, just a slight reduction of hate. We don't have too many attractive options in Palestine, as in much of the rest of the world. We support the government in hopes that they can keep the more radical and violent elements of their population in line. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But we can't invade everywhere.
