During the past decade issues of mistrust have been raised over and over again against the government that we fund and trust to protect us. With so many checks and balances in the governmental system we are taught and conditioned to beleive what we hear be it from the media (CNN, Fox News) or from the White House itself.
But recently there have become more skeptics, which begs me to ask, Is it easier to dissent or agree with the government?

These are just dissenting websites for examples.

Also: I am not saying that i either agree nor disagree with tthe content of these websites or trust/mistrust our government, i am merely just trying to figure out if it is easier for people to question or listen to our government/media.

Depends on many factors (enviorment, how you were raised, are you generally a skeptical person, etc...).

I believe it is easier to skeptisize if you are educated, because therefore you read and discover your own facts, ideas, reasearch...etc... (although those sites you refer to are not credible sources)

I believe that it is easier to go along with what we are told if you don't personally educate yourself about the subject that you are inferring about.

My 2cents.

I nominate "skeptisize" to be word of the week. It like funner and truthiness, but less discerning.

As stated on the movies.. the government has done many things like this in the past in order to sway the public opinion and get a backing for military actions. It was how our country was founded. In all honesty we would have even less support for the war right now had the 9-11 incidents not occured. I for one joined the military shortly after the incident because I wanted to do something to help in supporting our country. I've had a few friends that went AWOL (absent without leave) after watching some of those videos. I think that even if the videos aren't 100% true.. the main thing they prove is that the government lied to us atleast partially. Which raises concerns. As i stated before though, America doesn't want to hear the cold hard truth.. they like to follow what the media feeds them.
But, I believe gas prices are going to go down come election time so I'm happy about that :)

It is good to have questions and not just go along with what you are told. It shows you have an interest as to what is going on and your alertness to the issues that are going on all around you. You are not a robot that should do things upon command, you should have that ability to question things and speak for yourself on the matter. I think the easier way out is to just accept what the government is telling you rather than seeking the answer yourself and doing your own investigation on it. The government has already proven for many decades they cannot be taken on just their word. People must learn the truth for themselves and act upon what they have learned.

I think as a intelligent free thinking American its a good idea to question all authority. Governments main agenda threw out time has always been to gain power. So it would behoove of any citizen of any Government to question it's actions. Doesn't make sense to just be naive and go along with what's going on. Because anybody with half a brain would be able to realize that any large body of power does not have the best interests of the small people or the Masses in mind....

For me personally, I actually enjoy being skeptical and really thinking about an issue. I also simply do not trust corporate media and the government. I think many people find it easier to just go with what they are told, but then.....what would it be like to have nobody question what they are hearing? Alternative sources of news and information are always a good thing!

My advice is to educate yourself on issues by reading the most factual information you can find. Then make YOUR OWN decision. Never go along with "what we are told." That's just plain lazy and it's destroying the USA. People in our country are too comfortable to think. That attitude will bite you in the butt eventually. (By the way - you can "be skeptical" but "skeptisize" is not a word.)

actually, I'm not so sure that the media and the government aren't involved in a power struggle. skepticism is a natural response.

I agree with questioning the government, but the problem is no matter how many times 9/11 conspiracy theories are disproven with hard facts and science, people still choose to believe speculation and conjecture.

I am a researcher, if someone tells me something, I check it out for myself. It's my nature to be skeptical.
