He had two good games in the playoffs (and still only averaged 8 points per game in the playoffs) and now people who didn't even know his name before those two games are going crazy about him. And he only averaged about 4 ppg in the regular season. All of his fame is mainly because of the second of those two games when he scored 30-something points. He was even on ESPN First Take and practically the whole interview was about that game. It's insane that he is getting TV appearances because of that game. I'm not saying that he won't become a good player in the future but he is nowhere near being that good right now. I do respect the guy (I live in Houston which is where he is from and I watched him in college) but he doesn't deserve to be talked about so damn much.

I think he was underrated. Nobody talks about him, his coach benched him. When he exploded it was like being hit in the face with a pie. It was him and not Lebron that really saved Cleveland in the Detroit series. For Lebron fans, c'mon admit it nobody scouted Daniel Gibson in that Conference Finals series because he was merely a bench guy. Admit it or not he was their savior.

He basically lifted the Cavs over the Pistons in those 2 games when Lebron James was down and out. Dont forget that he is a rookie, and hardly had playing time during the regular season. The man showed what he can do by stepping up, so let him get his limelight stardom. I think he will eventually work his way into the starting lineup and become a great player.

No one had really heard of this guy and for him to erupt during the playoffs was HUGE!!! I haven't completely jumped on the Daniel Gibson wagon because in order to do that, I need to see consistency. If I can remember correctly, when coach did decide to start him, he didn't perform as well. He could have just been nervous- I think in the next two seasons we're going to see a great player emerge.

umm well maybe becuase he is a rookie, and stepped into the most pressured situation he could have only imagined, let alone experienced, and had an unbelievable 31 points to upend the pistons. He only averaged 4 ppg cause of lack of chances to show himself and his abilities. I see him getting a substantial amount of minutes next year, and easily averaging in double figures. Boobie will become a good sidekick to Lebron, Jordan's Pippen, or Shaq and Kobe, but a nice piece to the puzzle.

Because he was massively underrated the entire season and before it. He's shown great maturity in a tough situation early in his career. Yeah, obviously LeBron runs the show, but the Cavs wouldn't have made it to the playoffs without Gibson's performance, thats a fact. For a rookie who was given little to no playing time early in the season, he showed phenomenal maturity when it came to the post season.

Its all about potential and what a player WILL do....these NBA analyst LOVE to speculate and when a young, inexperienced player shows flashes of brilliance, the experts do what they do.....and this is HYPE the hell out of whatever the topic of the day is....

It happens every year. Someone in the playoffs has a few great performances and they suddenly get hype. Plenty of big names started out like this. Chauncey Billups was still a draft bust until he broke free in the playoffs. A lot of guys do this, so it's not totally unwarranted. Gibson has gotten a particularly large amount of hype, though.

As Vitale would say: "he's a PTP baby!" Gibson will be mediocre for the rest of his career. Its not hard burying wide open jumpers when Lebron gets triple teamed, but apparently he is the only one on the Cavs that can do it.

That's why they talk about him so much. He came out of no where and won the game on a team lead by Lebron James. He deserves his props.
Its a Cinderella story. Thats what the media lives for.

he knocked down clutch jumpers thats all..he's a big game performer

He is really overrated but I don't think he's a top notch point guard or anything....but he sure does knock down shots when you need them most

and besides The NBA and ESPN loves Lebron James...they want the league to be popular like they were back with MJ and they label Lebron as the next MJ and they give him and his stupid team ALL THIS ATTENTION

lol everyone thought Lebron would win the nba finals look what happened he couldn't scrape a single win

Don't listen to the media hype man...they're crap

Actually before he was really underrated until the playoffs which he basically helped the Cavaliers quite a bit.
