Lifetime odds of dying in a "air or space transport accident": 1 in 5,051
Lifetime odds of dying in a "water-transport accident": 1 in 6,541

Supposedly air travel because of so many idiots driving & often doing other things.

But personally I'd go with land because you have more control, with seat belts, defensive driving & air bags. You take alcohol, drugs & various distractions out of the pic, practice defensive driving there'd be few accidents. The problem is few drivers do, even when they're not at fault.

We take driving too much for granted unless the conditions are dangerous. Alot of people do even then because they gain too much confidence from modern technology. In 23 yrs. of driving I've had 1 accident & it was out of my control because I had nowhere to swerve to avoid it. But I shouldn't have been driving at all except an emergency under the road conditions.

You're in the air not likely to survive the crash. Very rare. None survived the crash in Ky. and it hadn't even taken off yet.

The sea has it's own dangers & the risk of hypothermia before rescued. So regardless of stats I'll go with land anytime.

According to statistics, air is the safest way. The only problem is that when there is a crash many lives are lost in one go, but this number is nothing in comparison to the numbers killed on our roads every year.
Air is safest.

I think that statistically that by sea is safer than by air which is a lot more safer than by land or road...

I have a friend who is a pilot and with whom i have flown and seeing the safety checks undertaken compared to those on the roads, is very impressive.

however being a RYA power boat and Dinghy Sailing instructor and a seasoned traveller by sea, i think by sea is the safest. but when a tradgedy occurs at sea the loss is immense. (Titanic, Lusitania(act of war), Herald of Free Enterprise). But the numbers still do not meet anywhere near those killed on our roads, across the continents.

i think air because, wait... is land car because i know air is the safest from those 2 air and sea and sea well i just plain really dont like sea and its up to u so probably air or sea it depends on which 1 u feel more comfortable on.

in order of safeness... Land then Sea and very last Air.

Also it depends where you are travelling to. If the place you want to go to can only be reached by Air then I reckon you should put your plans on hold until after Sept 11.

Every year around that time somewhere in the world there's trouble.

I don't think you can compare different ways of travelling that easy. I mean, how many peple travel by air daily compared to by car/train/boat? What type of car/plain/train/boat are we talking about? In what area/country? What route/distance? etc.

Do you want to know a percentage of killed/injured persons per traveled mile or per hour in each specific way of travelling? Then you also has the cost of travelling as a factor...
